Hands on iPWR Battery Pack for iPhone & iPod
When we first got our hands on the iPWR battery pack, we were very impressed with its design and size. It packs the same amount of charge as the RS1800 from Richard Solo, but is only half the size. Unlike some other battery packs, there are no extra bells and whistles to the iPWR - the manufacturers were intent on making a good backup battery and it does a great job at doing just that!
Here are the quick facts:
- 1800 mAh Battery
- Extends music up to 40 hrs
- Extends video up to 10 hrs
- Extends talk up to 7 hrs.
In our real world testing, we were able to squeeze out a full recharge for an iPhone 3G with a little extra to spare. The unit takes about 3 hrs to fully recharge the iPhone and has an LED at the front that indicates when charge is complete and when the battery is dead. As part of the review process, we decided to bring the iPWR into the city and show it off to a couple random people with iPhones. They were all generally impressed by its compact design and that so much power was packed inside. We were a bit disappointed however, that the company did not include a wall or a car charger for the unit. The unit ships with a USB cable that you use to charge it via a computer.
Overall, we think the iPWR is packaged together really well and is a great investment for anyone needing backup power for their iPhone. It is offered in pearl black and white and you can grab a unit from the company's website for $60. Check out this bonus pic of a size comparison of the iPWR.
