Platinum i-Series: iharmonix
Today, we put the spotlight on the Platinum i-Series headphones from iharmonix. If you are looking for an affordable set of replacement headphones for your iPhone, these are definitely worth your consideration. We had a chance to play with a pair and to put them head to head with the default Apple earbuds.
First off, we were impressed with the brushed stainless steel casing on the headphones. Contrary to our initial thoughts against metal headsets, they were pretty comfy and elegantly designed. I must mention however, that the disadvantage to using the metal, lies in the fact that it quickly becomes cold in the wintery temperatures and can be very uncomfortable for use outdoors.
Although the earbuds are a bit heavier than the Apple ones, they are a much better fit for your ears and don't keep popping out while running. They come equipped with three different size soft eargels (small, medium and large) from which you can choose the pair that best suits you. The sound quality is good and the in-ear design helps to filter out ambient noise. Don't expect high quality like professional headsets such as the triple.fi 10vi, however, for a price tag of $59.95, they render pretty decent. Overall, we found the treble and base to be a step up from Apple’s default headphones.
The inline microphone functions well for hands free-calling as well as for music playback and you can comfortably pause and restart songs with an assuring click. To top things off, iharmonix includes a stylish drawstring pouch to carry your headphones and the replaceable eargels. Hop over the iharmonix to grab a pair.
